I'm with Roger on this one. I live in a cold climate and love it. If I had a choice, I would not return to Louisiana. We are toward the end of a major heat wave here, and it was above 90 for several days, but it was dry, and still in the 60's - 70's at night. It'll be back at a high of 75-80 later this week.
Yes, the winters are cold and dark, but there is still a lot to do. Sledding, skiing, hiking, etc. I continue with my morning runs when it is less than 10 degrees, but I rather that than running in 95 degrees and 95% humidity!

I don't think I wanna go all-in. I'd be pretty happy with somewhere with a climate like Asheville or similar, I think.

Yup. Walking to the subway in a blizzard is much better than waking to the subway in 95 degree heat with 100% humidity

Everyone loves to spout this hyperbole. Almost certainly you've never experienced that level of heat. A dewpoint of 95 is insanely hot.

Cabin fever is very real up there. So much so, that those people are so desperate for something to do during the winter, they'll actually ice fish. Just think about that for a moment.
People ice fish up north for the same reason people go to the hunting camp, to drink with their friends

my body acclimated to the southern heat.
when i fly back home, way, way up north(4-5 hrs from canada), i don’t leave the house december through march.
i enjoy the weather here but not the bugs.
less bugs the size of salad plates up north.
