To be fair, Passpartout did display this on the set for several years.

Actually, there is a definition of the following:

Passé Partout Meaning

Here in Acadian South Louisiana the term is found in much Cajun music and lore. A passe-partout is a large two-manned tree saw designed to saw an entire large tree such as a Louisiana Bald Cypress. The term used here literally means to pass or cut through the whole thing or trunk. During the settlement of Louisiana in the 18th and 19th centuries, Native Cypress was the building material of choice, and a passe-partout was a common implement of the rural Cajun culture.

I thought it meant (loose translation) "go everywhere."
This presumably is the meaning Jules Verne was implying when he named the sidekick in Around The World In 80 Days "Passepartout"

Cantinflas as Passepartout and David Niven as Phileas Phogg in Around The World In 80 Days (Oscar winner for Best Picture, 1956)

It's not a direct translation from the French, it's idiomatic, and I grew up with the language, you fricking twat.

Google some more, though.

This works even better for Verne, since Passepartout faithfully helps Phogg on his journey

Nice one, Jules

The station that uses the very phrase went on facebook and gave the translation as to why, and how they use the phrase....

I'm going to go with their translation since it's the name their TV show

They directly translated in that. It's an idiomatic translation. Many others in this thread have corrected you.

Stay stupid, my friend.

I did. And everyone in South Louisiana knows it refers to a two-man crosscut saw.

The station even used one as the show's logo for years.
