Straight out of a Bond movie. Bloefeld probably has 3-4 of these scattered around the globe.

quote:

Submarine company Migaloo will custom-make you a private island with ridiculous amenities. Named the Kokomo Ailand (presumably after the island in Maui), the island is moveable, but forget about getting there fast and then taking it slow; the Kokomo only reaches speeds of eight knots (roughly nine miles per hour).

quote:

At 384 feet long and with a penthouse 262 feet above sea level, it’s no wonder you don’t want to zip around like a speedboat. The island is really customizable, and the features owners decide upon will determine its price, Christian Gumpold, Migaloo’s managing director, tells Huffington Post. Some of the add-ons include pools, decks, spas, helipad, waterfalls, outdoor movie theater, and a shark-feeding station.

Looks cool. Would be concerned with inclement weather?

That would be a colossal pain in the arse to keep up. You'd need a pretty good crew just to keep it operational.

Holy shite, look at that. I would kill to have that (not really, maybe) be like captain Nemo and Jacques Cousteau.

I'd chill on the surface and relax, and ride out storms deep below.

Wonder if they will ever actually build it? I know finding a shiek or Oligarch to buy it wouldn't be hard.

You could probably fund a mid-size space program for what the maintenance would cost on that thing.

I don't think that would be a problem. Some of the super yacht already have 50-60 crewmen on board (Octopus has 57) so say you need a crew of what 75-80? Not out of the realm of possibility for the super rich.

Probably about 20-30 just for operations. That's a lot of generator sets/pumps/electrical shite to keep up with. I'm assuming there would be chefs/bartenders/strippers working on board also which would drive the number up.

It's absolutely doable. All it takes is money.

There are still parts of the world where indentured servitude/slavery still exists. Wouldn't be difficult at all to find a crew.

That tub won't outrun any hurricanes or cyclones at top speed of 8 knots.
