Unless you have significant acreage, you aren’t getting rich off of it. It’s just free mailbox money.

Outside of the $20-30k an acre we were giving out 10 years ago.

Seems low to you huh?

Do you have 10 mil to drill the well? You should be thanking them. Consider yourself very fortunate.

Probably. ConocoPhillips is planning some Chalk Wells this year in St. Tammany.

I guess we can’t all be billionaires and own a quarter lot with our cookie-cutter in a Dallas suburb.

Thanks for the info though, baw

I'm not any of those.

I just grew up in the land business and did it on my own for 6+ years.

They were approached at their home today by a surveyor who offered them his company’s resources to drill on their land. Per the offer, they would get a small amount up front and will get a percentage of what is found.

LOL, no shite. My absentee next door neighbors have an acre and a half plot all grown up with chicken trees right next door to my place.

They don't want to sell because they think someone might want to drill in the area in the next millenium or so.

Dumbasses. And their Dad was a lawyer, you'd think they'd have a little sense.

20% and around $300-$500 is the going rate in Cenla, I've been down there the last six months buying OGL's. There are companies trying to lease acreage with no E&P company backing them that are trying to group acreage to shop around for a six month term, but they won't pay the bonus payment until they've made a deal with an E&P. To be honest, you don't have much negotiating power only having a ten acre tract, don't take the first offer, but don't think you're going to get Haynesville Shale money...

Hunter Energy, Prime Rock Resources, and Texegy are leasing Austin Chalk acreage in central Louisiana.

Texegy is the old Swift Energy. I assume one of the others is leasing for Amelia Resources who I’ve heard are funding a leasing program.
