I did ROV work for a few years and got an email a couple weeks ago asking if I was interested in coming back. Figured that meant drilling was picking back up

Who knew schlumberger was a dem sock puppet?

It's owned by a Russian Oligarch. Sometimes it is accurate but a lot of times articles are completely wrong

Positive economic outlooks before a midterm election? Shocking
Exactly. That was my first thought. They are talking about stuff that hasn't happened. And with the Brandon policies on destroying the the oil industry, there is no guarantee it will happen.

I was looking into buying a hydraulic fluids manufacturer who specialized in subsea and BOP supplies but his sales had been off since 2014. This was in the Spring of 2021. I had a meeting the head of Chouest Logistics about them handling inventory of totes ready to at Port Fourchon. He was laughing about the "Green Shiit" and telling me that the forecast was for 44 drilling rigs in the GOM but that was supposed to happen sooner than now.

It’s a collection of pieces written by different folks with different view points, and sure, lots of the speculation doesn’t always pan out.
But I prefer reading stuff from there and RigZone than Fox News/Newsmax/CNN/MSNBC when it comes to energy industry.

They'll just ship the oil to other markets besides the U.S. like in Central and South America. It's a big world.
This is more like the type of oil needed by refining on the Gulf Coast, unlike to light to refine as is Permian.

I find journalists to be nothing more than educated morons. It doesn't matter how far left or right they are. About a decade ago, I did some checking into Oil Price when their articles didn't seem to jive with facts and found out who was behind them.
RBN Energy is pretty darned accurate since they have expertise with their inhouse writers in everything from the well to almost the consumer. They did an article on GoM this week but their articles go away in a few days unless you are a paid subscriber. Their subscription rates are high and meant for professionals in the field, not the everyday Bubba.

Classic Democrat Party colluding with the offshore drilling industry
More like sunshine pumping extrapolated from industry opinions. Hope it’s true, but I’ll be skeptical till I see it.

Yeah, I have subscription access to some of that stuff via work. Would never pay for it on my own dime unless I felt it vital career wise.

The largest single stockholder in Halliburton was LBJ's wife, Lady Bird. That was as a result of Halliburton buying Brown and Root many decades ago. LBJ stayed at the Lamar Hotel in Houston almost as much as in DC. Brown and Root occupied several floors there. An uncle, who owned a drilling mud company, always stayed in the Lamar during weekly biz trips to Houston and saw LBJ there often.

Energy prices will decrease and admin will tout it as a victory when all they really did was get halfway out of the way. fricking swine.

I work for myself and don't pay subscriptions but have had meetings with RBN and they know their stuff. Their articles are mostly written due requests by big boys. Some seem like they are green oriented but behind the scenes they see the green stuff as going nowhere but a black hole for tax dollars

Total piece of garbage site. Their articles are all over the place. Like you, I tend to get my industry news from Rigzone. All that said, the industry is the craziest I've ever seen it right now.

We’re on the chemical side for O&G. Glad 5 years ago is over

My understanding is that breakeven with tiebacks from subsea production units has dropped considerably with deepwater production. It's now cheaper than Russian onshore production.
