Any pilots here can explain what each of these antennas does?

From the comments:
quote:
The Airworthiness Directive you reference did not apply to the Malaysia Airlines 777 in question. It was equipped with a different satcom arrangement. Also worth noting is that the cockpit crew would have been amply warned of any slow to moderate increase in cabin altitude (depressurization or over pressurization) well before it got the the point of incapacitating anyone. Airplanes fail to pressurize or, in general, have cabin pressurization issues at times. More than people might think, honestly. Procedures for such scenarios are trained for the safety of passengers and crew.

This particular 777 had a completely different satcom arrangement. Again, this AD did not apply to the 777 in question.

Flight Radar now changing the data?
Not sure how credible this video is as I haven't reviewed the Flight Radar site to confirm the changes but I doubt this guy modified it himself. But who the frick knows at this point.

Any pilots here can explain what each of these antennas does?
Weather antenna- gives pilots heads up of weather in front
ILS glidesope- used for instrument landings
VHF- short range radio used for atc comms
Dme- distance measuring equipment
GPS- Global Positioning System, updates lat/long for their awareness
HF- long range comms
Satcom- used for satellite comms
ADF- radio for commercial aircraft
TCAS- used for aircraft collision avoidance
I'm no pilot but I operate radar in the back of 737's, and this is what I got of the top of my head. Hope this helps..

quote:Very interesting. Seems to cover all the bases. Except that if the plane continued on autopilot, even with all passengers and crew unconscious, and even below 30,000 feet, it still would've at some point been detected by multiple radars. Especially if it flew so far as to be outside the current search area.
This is best explanation I have found so far of what could have happened:

So is that fella insinuating that it was shot down by a tailing aircraft?

Wow. Lots of theories and conflicting information floating around at this point.

I'm still going with the North Korea theory.
