You're giving them too much credit in my opinion. I honestly don't think their capable of it, they would inflict harm on themselves trying to pull something like this off.

How many radars are in the south Indian Ocean if the continued on auto pilot?
To get to the Indian Ocean, I believe the plane would've had to travel all the way across Malaysia or Thailand, where there are plenty of radars (I assume). However, if it turned east - something no one has really suggested yet - it would've ended up over the South China Sea. I'm not sure if there's radar coverage there or not. I don't believe any of the search efforts are focused there, though.

Another thing that came across my mind, if it landed somewhere in the south china sea, there is a shite ton of shipping traffic and fishing boats in that area. Im surprised a ship wouldn't have seen it or heard something.

ADF- radio for commercial aircraft

ADF is the Auto Direction Finder, when tuned to a non-directional beacons located near a airport runway, will give a direction heading to the beacon. Used to make instrument approaches to airports that do not have a precision ILS system. Usually only used by smaller general aviation aircraft in the U.S., but heavy jets outside the U.S. going into timbucktwo type airports still use it.

I'm with you. If you've watched any documentaries done from within North Korea, you wonder how they manage to put on their shoes in the morning. While extremely armed, I don't think they're capable of this or something of this nature would be on their radar.

Swallowed by some sort of alien mother ship. That is as good as anything else being put out there now.

Td needs to solve this crisis, much like we solved the Boston bombers.

I would think so. I think they are practically indestructible.

They were recovered. One was too damaged to recover any data.

The families were allowed to listen to the recordings in 2002 I believe.

All 4 were I believe.. definitely the two that hit the towers. They're made to survive extreme heat, explosion, and pressures.

Serious question...why can't we use satellites or drones to take pictures of the area to find wreckage?

This thread had potential to go down as one of the GOATs. But after page 45-50, it's pretty much straight garbage.

Plus the OP is horrible. Or admins need to sticky some top replies.

Only possible answer I can think of is that we don't want to tip our hand about the technology. But then, I don't see why we couldn't use drones/satellites to find the crash site (if there is one), then simply send ships to that site.

I wonder if they had the dvr going. We could go back and watch the plane.
