Because you have to hit the button each time you want the tap to do something. You can't just spit commands at it.

I'm mad because I bought it Sunday along with the Phillips hue starter kit and the echo is 50 bones cheaper now.

Why would you want to press the button anytime you use it? Especially when it comes to home automation. When I use it, I'm never near it or have my hands free.
