3 hours away

but I personally think the strain on the healthcare system of workers taking off will be the bigger impact of closing schools

Agreed. But, considering the overreaching panic going on, it makes sense that sports are being cancelled. And, my posts are about the people comparing cancelling sports to closing schools.

Why cancel outdoor activities? Tell the people that are most at risk to stay home instead of telling the people that are at the lowest risk to stay home

If my kids school gets cancelled, my parents will actually travel out here to where we live to watch our kids We have already discussed

And then likely take then to the park, movies etc etc

Okay. There are still plenty of baby sitters alllllll around you who just became available will schools closing.

Idk what to tell you. You don’t HAVE to have your elderly parents watch them. There are plenty of other options all around you. Will it cost some? Yep. Most likely. But isn’t that a worthy cost to protect your elderly parents?

I discussed that with my parents

They said they are the damn grandparents and want to watch the kids. Some people want to keep loving life man

well you don't have to tell me anything as my wife is a SAHM so this wouldn't effect me

I'm just telling you why its a bad idea and what unintended consequences it may have

And there is nothing wrong with that. They sound like awesome grandparents. Hell, it’s exactly what my grandparents and my parents would do.

I’m simply saying this “everyone’s gonna be forced to have their parents watch their Kids” is horse shite.

Agree

They certainly don’t have too. But the reality is that is what will happen for the majority

I haven't seen anyone say “everyone’s gonna be forced to have their parents watch their Kids,” so I'd agree with that being horse shite.

I mean. Idk what this has to do with the fact that with schools closing, the babysitter pool has been completely opened.

You have other options to watch your kid besides your elderly parents.

Dear Ursuline Community,

In the event that COVID-19 causes us to close the Academy and move forward with distance learning, we have implemented a plan for our teachers and students. Before we officially close, we will be sure to prepare both students and teachers so that they bring home with them the necessary tools and supplies to continue learning. If we must close, Ursuline Academy faculty members will be hosting live instruction through Google Meet.

Students across the academy will utilize Google Meet along with Google Classroom. Google Meet is the app students will use to "attend" class while the academy is closed. Google Classroom is where students/parents will find important messages, instructions, and supporting materials from the teacher.
This distance learning will vary throughout grade levels. It will also vary throughout courses and instruction. Sometimes teachers may lecture and other times they may post assignments for students to work on. Here are important notes for each division:

If the kids aren't staying home, what exactly is the point of closing the schools in the first place?

There are schools that have already decided to be closed for 2-3 weeks. News will come later. They are notifying parents first. I’m not going to name specific parishes. Schools can also mean learning centers, and etc

Because people keep closing and cancelling things with the utopian idea that means those people will now go home and never leave....

It’s the reason none of this makes sense. It’s just action to take action
