Don't enhance bowl into a conversation. He hates LEO's. Probably screwed his wife or arrested him before

No gun or weapon has to be in play. There are plenty of videos online showing LEOs speaking this way to the general public. Elderly Middle-Aged Young-Adults, Teens, Pre-teens. And for things as small and petty as riding a scateboard on the sidewalk.

I already said I don't hate the police. Keep up. Try reading a whole conversation instead of one post and taking it out of context.

Well it appears you believe a lot of LEO's are basically tyrant's?
Also way to ignore my statement of you making racial accusations.

Again, never said any of that. My entire point, and I have already stated verbatim if you took the time to read instead of instigating, is that LEOs have far too much power in this country. They essentially have a license to kill anything while they're on the clock and all they have to do is say they felt threatened and they can't be touched. The lack of qualifications it takes to become a police officer and the level of individuals that are typically recruited to be police make this power they are given even more egregious.
I believe that LEOs need to be held to the same standards and be held responsible for the actions the same as any other member of society. I also believe that our standards and qualifications for what it takes to be a LEO needs to raised considerably.
Obviously this doesn't make the police evil or mean they're all bad. I have several friends who are police. I love having conversations with police I run into. And 90% of experiences I've had with cops in my life, whether a traffic stop or dumb teenage/ college party stuff, have been good experiences.
Most of other recent high profile cases of people dying in police hands like Mike Smith, Sandra Bland, Alton Sterling, Freddie Gray, I have sided with the police. And again, I already stated that in this thread.
However this particular case with Philando Castile I firmly believe the officer was in the wrong. There was no logical reason thag Castile should have lost his life that day. His actions absolutely did not warrant any type of force at all, as he was attempting to comply.
This case highlights several things about our current judicial system and our police state that desperately need to be reformed. But that doesn't in any way, shape, or form mean I hate LEOs or think that they are tyrants. You're being ridiculous to suggest that.

Are you not white? I am.
It's a statistical fact that black males get pulled over at a far far higher rate than any other member of society.
Many officers have admitted that it's common for police to stop black men under the pretenses of very minor things that they wouldn't ever bother anybody else with when they actually want to check IDs or see if they can spot something in the car.
Castile's own record of getting pulled over by police for very minor things that you probably slide with all the time backs that up. The officers stated reason for pulling over Castile that day to check his ID "because he had a wide set nose" backs that up.
So for you to say "Its really not hard to avoid being pulled over" is an ignorant statement. No black man would say that because often for them it can actually be hard to avoid getting pulled over. It's an easy assumption to make that you are in fact a sheltered white guy.

I agree sometimes when a officer kills a person it's a chicken shite way out. Police have a lot of power in this country. But at the same time it's hard to hold them to the same standards in some situations has a normal citizen. Citizens don't do traffic stops, they don't serve felony warrants, they don't respond to medicals, etc. I agree with the qualifications. Some states have higher standards, some don't. I'm sure you reside in the south, which a lot of departments only require a high school education but to assume all states are have low standards is not fair.

Again I'm withholding judgement until they release the dash and audio. Just going off the girlfriends video isn't justice to both parties. If it's a bad shoot, then I'll agree but until the video is released I'm not saying it's good or bad. Just because he got off doesn't make it right. Yes it's a big factor in his favor but I'm still waiting for the results of the dash to be released.

My race shouldn't play a role on my opinions of getting pulled over. I've had my fair share of traffic stops, but that's because I was dumb and young at the time. But I agree blacks do get pulled over more. Why because in high saturated areas with LEO's the main population is black. Yes, some officers pull over minotiries because of there prejudice. But to say a majority of cops do is ignorant.

If true, that's wrong. You have to fit other descriptions to have reasonable suspicion to pull over someone. I've heard he pulled him over for that but also heard he had other various reasons as well. Again going back to my statement prior I'm waiting on the dash.
Overall do you have the right to be upset. Yes. But to generalize officers have a license to kill is not a fair assumption. How many interactions happen daily with law enforcement? How many of those result in use of force? Again some officers shoot for chicken shite reasons.

I'm fascinated that we have a 7 page thread with a bunch of people who clearly think they know more about the case than the people who were in the courtroom.
Always an interesting dynamic.

I was just mocking the way people simplify these issues into a "us or them" scenario. I actually thought you made some good and well thought out points.

The lone juror who gave the first interview was dressed up like an old 60's hippie SJW and he said he feels bad about the way he upheld the law as a juror, bc he felt so bad for the victim's family. However, he said it was the right verdict based on the dashcam audio. And to repeat, he said it hung on the fact they all felt the defense used the complete LEO's dashcam/audio to show the LEO was clearly able to see AT LEAST part of the handgun. Which coupled with what we can only speculate to be the victim not complying with the officer's orders. The local news agency filed for release of the dashcam audio/video and are waiting to get it to see what sort of difference it made compared to the Facebook live feed. As the juror stated the full dashcam audio/video made any questions brought on by the Facebook live feed null & void.
If it does not fit the media agenda, when it is eventually released in a year or two, we will likely never see it unless we search Yeww-Tubes for it. Meanwhile the LEO will be falsely painted as an Anglo-Caucasian racist murderer and not the minority Hispanic-Caucasian who shot another minority African-Hispanic multi-racial person.

What in your opinion should be the minimum qualification to be a LEO?

BowlJackson, I've understood your position in your posts and I haven't seen where you come across as hating on police.
However, I believe there was something on the full audio/video dashcam that negated what we all saw on the Facebook live feed. The hippie juror said so himself. So what we saw as clear appears to actually have not been clear at all.

How do you propose that we accomplish this when LEOs have a duty to intervene and risk their lives while citizens do not?

Americans are mostly incapable of really thinking through the concept of justice.

I can't answer for others.
I believe if LEOs are going to be equipped with military gear, prior military service should be mandatory for one.
Psychiatric and psychological clearing should be mandated.
I believe the job should be one of high pay (as should fire fighters, teachers, emergency services to name a few). So higher quality young adults will see this as a legit career and become more respected. (And the current LEOs cannot be "grandfathered" into the requirements).
I believe the LEOs should live in the communities they protect and serve.
I believe that LEOs should stopped being used by the government as another stream of tax revenue collection agencies.
I believe Law Enforcement Officer should require a 4 year undergraduate degree (in addition to prior military service thus having commissioned military officers as civilian LEOs). And to get tenure as a LEO they should be mandated to complete a master's degree in the field and in order to retire they must complete a doctorate.
I've got many others, but tldr.

Don't you think that is a bit much? Does a EMT need that? What about a teacher? Also to require that much schooling the pay would have to double almost triple to get those type of candidates. Who would pay for the schooling the officer, or the state?
Also edited after the fact. Answering your collection statement. The state agencies such LSP collect a lot of revunue for the state which does goes towards the agencies. But counties/parishes/and city municipalities get very little for state citations. Heck even little %5 of the state tickets goes towards the city in some states.
