Officer shot nine times gets sued by gunman's family for "emotional distress"

Back in 2018 in Casper, Wyoming, an offer responded to a call that there was an obviously young child driving a vehicle in a remote parking lot.
However, when the officer responded to the call in order to speak with the adult present in the vehicle, he was met with gunfire.
That officer, who was shot nine times during the encounter, is being sued by the family of the man he shot and killed in response to the hail of bullets aimed at and striking him.

The statement released by the family of the deceased stated:
“(Casper) Policymakers failed to train, in non-enforcement encounters and contacts and de-escalation techniques… or otherwise control officers who are known or should have been known to engage in the use of excessive and/or deadly force.”

He de-escalated the situation terminally. And I think that is within standard police training when you keep getting shot.

Bold strategy
..9 times though, was it a 22?

So, the officer was supposed to descalate the situation with non-life threatening means as he was absorbing 9 shots? Damn.

You’d be surprised how many time a persona can get shot from most pistol rounds and still keep going. Could have been a .22, .380, or 9mm. That’s why I chose .44 spc. as my day to day carry.

Why hasn't this stupid lawsuit been thrown out already?

Once upon a time in my younger years I had been patronizing an adult establishment when an altercation erupted outside in the parking lot.
One baw stabbed another baw 18 times. The victim walked to the ambulance and was conscious the whole time. I asked the cop there if he had been stabbed with a toothpick. Our car was within the crime scene, and we couldn't leave.
That was also the night I learned that one cannot consume alcohol after 2 AM at such an establishment, and I got to watch "stripper practice". The sun was up before we were able to leave, and that was only because the cop guarding the scene was tired because he had not been relieved.
Moral of the story: knives are even more impractical than small caliber hand guns.

Someone's irrational disdain for all police is clearly showing in this thread.

For years, my go to has been a colt 1911, I'm personally most comfortable firing a 45.
Was thinking about a 357, relative was talking about selling me a Ruger KGP-141 for a more than fair price.

Vest caught a few of them.

Why does the lawsuit identify "Casper policymakers" if the suit is directed at the officer?
If this shite doesn't get thrown out day 1, that community should riot.

I strongly considered going with a 1911 and was leaning toward a .357 when I found a great deal on a new Charter Arms .44 that I just couldn’t pass up. It’s lightweight, has a very comfortable grip, and easily concealed.
We were out and about all around Trussville for most of the afternoon into late yesterday evening. I had it in an inside the belt holster the entire time and it never bothered me or got uncomfortable at all.

I prefer my 40 as my carry weapon
Lighter and easier to operate in a quick-close envirinment than my 1911, more power than my 9
Everything is about shot placement. I know men than are more dangerous with a 22, than I am with a bazooka.

Darth,
I just swapped my EC from a 1911 compact .45 to a Charter Arms Bulldog in .44 SPL. It feels great and hides IWB very well. I’ve got big hands but it fits well in my grip.
