off/on ramp construction on I10 near Pecue

Didn't realize there was constriction going on around there but it looks like the land is cleared and close to being ready for paving. I'm guessing this will connect at Pecue? Also is this part of the I10 expansion project or something completely separate? Looks like this could be done in a relatively short amount of time.

They are adding a modified divergent diamond interchange at Pecue.
Nothing DOTD touches it built in a short amount of time. They've been trying to add in HOV lanes on I-12 for 2 years now, and all it needs is paint and signage.
This is sort of what they are building at Pecue BTW, except it's an overpass instead of an underpass. Traffic on Pecue will switch sides briefly so traffic turning onto I-10 doesn't stop opposing traffic by having an arrow.
They are also going to widen Pecue and add a connection to Siegen Lane by extending Rieger Road. Should be done in 30 years.

They have been working on this for a long time now.

No, I actually think it's expansion

Connecting to Rieger Road near Mockler Beverage also.
EDIT: I found this photo on Google image search. Is this a possible connection to backside of Topgolf complex too?

Wait they are doing that? That's a good idea.

They are in the third and final phase now. It includes widening of Pecue and adding the on and off ramps. They are doing the majority of the current work on Pecue, especially at the bridge over Ward Creek. They also have to do major work at the train crossing on Pecue. The projection is for an early 2026 completion.

Its called a Diverging diamond interchange, and its one of the most efficient and safest interchange designs. However, I'm sure Baton Rouge drivers will find a way to screw it up.

That's going to be a huge help. When is that happening?

First I have heard of this.
Unless it is connecting directly to the exit ramp with one way access to Pecue, it’s not happening.

They've been working on this since 2018

Define "short amount of time"
iirc they've been working on this for 3 years at least.

They need to do something at Pecue/Highland as well. It’s going to be a shitshow with people exiting off I10. I know there are mixed feelings about them but a roundabout is probably the best solution there.

I was there for the groundbreaking, summer of 2019.

Highland was made a Historic highway some time back during the 1980s, it is protected and thus cannot be changed. The intersection of Highland with Pecue has some deep pockets living there and they would probably fight a roundabout.

So they are just preparing for when The MoL finally becomes the "black people's mall"?

Pretty sure that's being built by EBR city/parish and not DOTD. I'm sure they slow played it anyway not knowing the outcome of the St. George litigation. It's being paved by one of the MoveBR type property taxes, so they may have just built some as they got money and had to drag it out.

There are articles in The Advocate citing design delays causing issues with breaking ground from 2018.

Well they better get to fighting because a roundabout is being designed in the MOVEBR program.
