Fat "shaming" is only possible because obesity is shameful.
If I mention that you have the body composition of a bean bag, and you feel ashamed, that's not my problem. That's your problem. You chose to look that way.

Genetics do however play a part in the mindset you will have with regard to food, eating, and overeating. That is very different conversation though than the deterministic notion that the obese are merely slaves to their whale genes.
