St. George: We're sick of supporting the rest of the parish with our tax dollars.
Also St George: We're going to need the rest of the parish to pay for our police protection and various other parish services.

Don't be shy. Please list all these services that the St. George area will receive that they're not already paying for.

Great point.
TERM LIMITS with lifetime bans against any remote form of "lobbying". Better yet - NO lobbying at all and NO PACs.

So you think it's fair that the currently unincorporated area of St George paying for city services that they don't receive is fair? Thanks for having no retort. It shows your stupidity on the situation.

Everyone pays taxes on things that don't necessarily benefit them. The goal here was obvious as soon as the lines were drawn up. The emotional responses in this thread are telling. CJDubs

That’s absolutely ludicrous. People should only have to pay taxes that are specific to their areas or that are statewide, not parish taxes that have no effect on them. Paying for a city service should be servicing the area it provides. Should EBR start paying for WBR city services even though they aren’t doing anything in the area? Don’t you want all your taxes to actually be used towards the area you live? More localized government is better for everyone. Local leaders will be more inclined to fight for local areas.

If you think like this, then BR should pay for the services that only go to St George since we all have to pay for things we don’t want to. How does that feel in reverse?
