So pet sitting without the exchange of money is not a health hazard to the pets or the public. That damn money is always the problem.

NY takes care of their Union Members and Businesses.
Kennels and boarding places greased politicians. Liberal Cities and their politicians are like whores, always offering up their services for a fee.

More regulation.
What it should say is the government of New York has decided it is not compensated enough, so permit up bitch.
This is not the same as Uber or Lyft btw.

I wish they'd be honest about why they do it. It's not due to health concerns. It's because the Govt can't tax a person who accepts cash to take care of a pet unless the person just reports it on income (they won't)

Exactly.
This isn't about protecting some pet sitting corporations it's about preventing cash payments

NY proving once again that no man's life, liberty or property are safe, as long as the legislature is in session.

Why do I have a feeling there were people running kennels out of their apartment. Most people would be pissed if their apartment neighbor was kenneling a bunch of animals.

No bullshite, it's $90 a day for me to board my dog at the vet in NYC. The last time I picked her up she went outside and pissed like never before so it's not like they are providing an exception service.

This honestly is plausible.....but....given its New York this is all about the money grab.
Im sure there are a one or two of these that a "crazy cat lady" or some shite decided to house sit 50 pets at a time, but its gotta be about the money.

It's about the money. Buildings have general rules and pet policies that would regulate this issue.

I know it probably is a money grab. I just wonder if you have some people who are trying to make serious money off it. Similar to how air bnb has turned into a ton of properties strictly used as part time rentals.
