I had been wondering about that as I never saw it mentioned as being found in the car. Police press release day before did not seem like they were 100% certain she went to get food but more that she had told family she did.
It seems like it would have been easy to confirm one way or the other by talking to restaurant and looking for payment transaction.

The police have access to everything they need to confirm or dismiss her story. If she did see a child, she would have to loop back around. The police have access to traffic cams at both exit 10 and exit 13 that would show her exiting on and off 459. If they can't place her in those locations then why was she driving with her flashers on in the emergency lane for at least a half mile? The police will more than likely ask her to walk them through what happened leading up to her stopping already knowing the answer.

I believe it was her brother who made a video saying the story wasn’t getting enough attention and we all know why. So you can bet that they will play the race card if it is a hoax.

There was never any child, her actions on video after she exits the car make that pretty clear.
She was either delusional for whatever reason or it was an very poorly thought-out hoax.
She could have had a legitimate break with reality and somebody found her after she was holed up in their backyard shed or wandering the woods for almost 2 days and took her home or it was a scam or attempt to get attention from mommy and daddy or whoever.

If a hoax - Her brother and/or his girlfriend probably helped her. No one else in their house heard from her about the child walking along the highway. It all came from the brother’s girlfriend. Most news articles about that phone call were quoting the mother who was quoting the girlfriend.

Yeah regardless of what the truth is, this is going to be ugly for the family.
Their "best case scenario" is that their daughter is missing a few marbles and went on a 2-day psychotic bender. Even then,much of the public that doesn't understand mental illness is going to rip them apart.
Worst case scenario is that this was some strange attention-seeking plot, in which case some angry locals may literally go burn their house down.
