Anyone currently in a hospital treating Corona virus patients? My wife is at UMC with several cases in her unit, so my work has put me on paid admin leave given her contact. Just wondering if other hospitals are quarantining or putting their nurses up anywhere.

SO got sent home friday because they had a potential case. We just moved, so she is still training and they sent home all non essential staff

My wife is self quarantining due to exposure to a patient that tested positive. She saw this patient on Tuesday.

My work has moved all non-essential to telecommuting starting Monday, but I'd have been staying home regardless with this news.

They've been sending people home for a week if they've had a possible exposure at my wife's clinic. I don't know how long that's going to be sustainable.

Not sustainable.

You can’t quarantine every nurse that “might” have been exposed. You will very soon have no nurses to work. This time of year is still a time where hospitals are already busy due to usual respiratory illnesses combined with everything else.

Hospitals should be setting up strict guidelines for this

Ex: If you were exposed and had on appropriate PPE you work unless you show symptoms. Screen all staff at the beginning of their shifts for symptoms.

Steps like that

What are you on about? He said his wife is still going to work. And even if she's sent home it wouldn't be her fault.

How does that make her a pussy?

lsunurse - saw one of the preliminary steps might be to speed up nurse training to put more into the system. I assume they are speaking of lpn's and aides. Or maybe the 4th year nursing students. I can see that happening, but I doubt it would make much of an impact.

My girlfriend is a nurse at UMC and has dealt with a few patients. Every time she’s done anything they’ve put her in a full hazmat suit. My doctor told me that she is less risk to me than a normal person at work because of the precautions they are taking.

I was exposed 4x yesterday. If you work in the Emergency Department or have close contact with someone who does then you will most likely get the virus.

When “nurses” is in the title, there should be obligatory pics.
