I think it is usually against school policy for employees to engage in relationships with students. It isn't illegal, it's just not allowed in schools..

Have to go with "lucky bastard" on this one.

The article clearly states she turned herself in to police and will face charges

I agree, people that cheat whether male or female are a POS.

Last week it was the teacher in Greer getting caught half naked with a student and now it's an assistant principal in West Columbia with a student. If you're 15-18 and in high school move to the Palmetto state.

A Cayce Department of Public Safety spokesperson said Diimmler faces charges of sexual battery from both them and the Columbia Police Department. If convicted, Diimmler could have to pay a maximum fine of $500, spend up to 30 days in jail, or both. Her bond in Richland County was set at $30,000 cash surety.
Why is it sexual battery?
Is it because she was an "authority figure"?

South Carolina expanded its sexual misconduct statutes some time ago to include teacher-student relationships where the student was above the age of consent.

But what if he was willing?
This makes no sense. How can you sexually batter someone who was willing?

It comes down to her being charged with the well being of her students, I'm sure.
Especially an assistant principal.

I get your point, but being a 19 year old high school student still qualifies one as dumber than shite.

She was able to take "advantage" of him due to her position in the school. bullshite but that's the law.

Unfortunately it is a strict liability offense, which makes consent irrelevant. I agree wholeheartedly that the law is both ridiculous and overbroad. This woman should be fired and her husband should hit the hills running with those three kids, but this shouldn't be a crime.
