5,000-square-foot Cold War-era bomb shelter, 26 feet beneath a suburban home

That's pretty awesome--would be the perfect place for a man cave.

That could easily be updated into one hell of a man cave. Red wood panel walls, book cases, full sized English pub style bar top with real hand pumps, couple marble statues, suits of armor, etc.

You know, classy things

Where will light come from after the bombs wipe out the grid?

You've never heard of a gas/diesel generator?

Surely someone with the paranoid foresight, ingenuity and $$ to build a bomb shelter 26 ft below their home would have thought about ventilation.

What do you think the black thing is to the right of the fridge? The thing that looks like a flat screen TV.

Yeah, there's one above the sink too! And one with a handle on it looking into the oven. Holy cow!

Lol. I assume you're trying to say window. I don't think it's a window. Looks like it folds down. Just wondering if it was some sort of 60's appliance.

I toured one of the old ICBM sites a few years ago.

There was technology to recirculate air, but it was still pretty stale down there.

I would worry about the plumbing getting backed up.
