He had a special process server appointed by the court so the suit could be served on her right before she hosts her usual big Thanksgiving shindig. Wish it would be televised on Pay Per View.
I'd buy it

This has potential. Thanks.

Junior can't afford a plane ticket from Houston to Austin?

Should have told her to frick off. We finalize plans two weeks out. The plans only change if the hosts get sick.

Niece bailed on tomorrow so she can make time and a half at Santa land to save for her neck tattoo.
She's still in high school.

We are having to adjust to the new dynamic of having our son split holidays between us and his fiancé’s family. This year we get Thanksgiving Day, her family gets Christmas Day.
They’re driving up tomorrow to have Thanksgiving with us at my MIL’s house, then spending the night with us before getting up Friday morning to go to her family’s place in Madison.
I don't mind it an understanding my son and DIL-to-be (their wedding date is set for April 18) have to split time like this. I’m just happy I’ll get to see them both.

Isn't this supposed to be Pio's thread? Is he still with us?

It’s only wrong if you remember it

I came to the realization last night that I envy those having to suffer through tomorrow and the other holiday gatherings. I grew up with gatherings at my grandparents that included everyone from my great grandparents down to my great 1st cousins (I had a 11 year head start) on Thanksgiving and Christmas. We'd walk in and my grandpa would be making old fashioned when new people showed up before rejoining is for the early game. The guys would hang out in the living room as the women were kept in the kitchen and dining room. Then after the meal we'd return to the living room as they cleared the table so the men could go help with dishes.
Only child, 6 hours from my family, two teenagers who don't celebrate with us, and on my wife's side her grandparents are long gone while the "glue" (her aunt) died the December before Corona. So Thanksgiving is my wife cooking for us and her parents before her FIL and I quickly stuff our mouths so we can watch football all day. Of course this repeats itself at Christmas but I just go upstairs after the meal as my patience has limits and the FIL bitching how full he is generally is the sign for me to excuse myself.
This is generally the one time of the year that has me wishing I had married into a southern family rather than a family of Ohio Valley rednecks from Tennessee. Thankfully this annual thread provides me with an infinite amount of amusement.

It is, but we don't know. Someone said he hasn't posted since January and someone else said he may have passed. Honestly don't know.

We are close to both of our families and all get along well, but I spend a lot of Thanksgivings and Christmases alone because my husband often works them and it is a built-in excuse for me as well. There's nothing like it.
I have never had a problem spending holidays alone either. Its less stressful and actually feels like a break.
Tomorrow I am just cooking a few things and going to my boyfriends with the kiddo. I will take that over the stress of having to travel and fight holiday crowds and traffic.

Most of my thanksgivings are just with people I see regularly so they’re relatively boring and never any fireworks. I can relate

Between adults and kids we will have close to 40. Welcome to come on over and celebrate with the chaos. I do love it though.
