My attitude began changing late 90s and not for the best. Between family and friends there are 2 generations of LEO, and while there are good cops, the bad have wayed them down. Attitude with regards to professionalism is sorely lacking as a whole.
And yes I haven't had pleasant experiences with LEO since returning home from the war.

I take this approach in my law practice. Things go a lot smoother when you're calm and courteous.
There are times to be a dick, but those times are rare. In fact, the more you are a dick, the less effective it becomes. When you're a very pleasant guy and then all of the sudden become a dick, it resonates with people and is MUCH more effective.

This will sound strange, but two polar opposite areas. Criminal defense and plaintiff 1983 actions & civil/administrative defense for first responders and civilians in self defense cases. Would like to do some prosecution work at first for the experience though. Would advertise having experience from the curb to the courtroom. Set up NFA trusts for smaller stay income.

That's not strange at all.
I do mostly civil stuff but on the side I love doing DUI work. I'm really good at it, actually. I'm about to take to a trip to Atlanta to be NHTSA certified in FST.

All of the best attorneys I know practice that way. My point was that NOLA attorneys are known for fighting every little point. Helps billing.

Well our firm is a NOLA firm and I haven't seen that.
The guy gives me great advice and I view him more as a business counselor than a lawyer, in many cases.

Ah. You aren't a lawyer. There are several great lawyers and great firms in NOLA that do great work. NOLA just has a reputation for being a bit more adversarial. That's all.

Tried to go to my states association of defense attorneys event on DUI, complete with FST training with dosed participants. Couldn't get approved for leave. Damn sure wasn't going to tell the office where I was trying to go.
