This is so F’d…
Maybe it has hope of at least being rebuilt the way they did Greenwood near St. Francisville. There’s a whole lot of value tied up in the entire complex with all the outbuildings and other facilities.
I pray to God they had this place over-insured.

When we toured, I member them saying the molding was made from river clay and other materials.

How does this happen? That's got to be the biggest tourist attraction in Iberville Parish. Lots of people out of jobs now.

Well I know why it’s burning, it’s because there isn’t a single fricking water hose on it right there.

I don’t know anything about this place but i hate seeing history lost - I’m sure it’s a gut punch for some of you guys

Houmas House better be on high alert.

Nottoway and Oak Alley are the goats in my opinion. Houmas House is beautiful but it doesn’t hold the mystique that Nottoway and Oak Alley have (had).

Nottoway is one of the greats for sure. This is a massive historical tragedy.

My dad is out there working it and just sent some pics. Got me tearing up.

My people a couple plantations over say there is no water pressure, I think they threw all they had on it but couldn't stop it.

Dang, he’s still at it these days?
Didn’t truly hit home for me until I saw the main house ablaze and heard that the roof had collapsed.

Is it normal in 2025 to not have water pressure for a significant fire in a civilized area?
Posted on 5/15/25 at 7:34 pm to TDsngumbo
You ever been to White Castle?
Posted on 5/15/25 at 7:35 pm to TDsngumbo
Not sure White Castle is civilized....

I get it, but it’s not like we’re talking about some backwoods spot in Pierre Part.

Hell…the river is 15 feet from the top of the levee. Run a couple hundred feet of hose over and start pumping.
The water pressure thing has to be a joke, right?
