I've been called a gorilla. I'm just bigger than many. And I'm white as a sheet you'd wear out and about with your friends...

You know at a toga party

At a neutral stance, W was alright, but that series of pics supports a conclusion he was raised by chimps - just very chimpish facial expressions - without a doubt.

Someone send her this bush pic, not one person mentioned that it was racist. I never read an article that talked about bush and looking like a monkey or ape. Why? Racism.

Oh, definitely.

But, I blame the editors for letting that go to print. I don't think anyone needed a detailed and "debunked" explanation as to why that could be seen as offensive. The bit about the Obamas had absolutely nothing to do with the incident.

I came across this group's website recently. They are a group of New Orleans African American men who provide mentoring and role modeling for African American male youths.

It seemed germane to the topic.

This is typical behavior-- why is anyone shocked here.

We all know what people say behind closed doors

Yup, its never ever the perps fault unless, you know, 9 praying black folks get murdered in cold blood.

FTR, it wasn't said behind a closed door. He introduced the man, apparently a respected colleague, to a group of official visitors, with that comment.

Considering how sensitive everyone is, it is quite shocking and, no, not at all to be expected.

If the black officer isn't offended (and there doesn't seem to be any attempt to clarify if he is), then why the frick is anyone else offended?

Total fricking non story here.

The struggle is real.

Yeah. Well you wouldn't be saying that if you were a black guy. You would be that's all racist and shite. You don't know anything about being a downtrodden black man in whitey's world.

Silverback. I joke around and call my husband a silverback all the time. He's a former offensive lineman (big guy) who's got quite a bit of chest and back hair. He's also getting older, so the body hair is turning silver. He's also very much a white guy. I still kid around and call him a silverback gorilla.

I don't think gorilla is a racial term per se--depends on the context.

I'm sure you've been called much worse than a gorilla.
