Somebody brought up the Worlds Fair... Man, we freaking lived there. I was only 8 and my mom would just leave us with some older kids roaming the fair all day. We would meet at a specific location at 6PM. Could you imagine now a days... Leaving an 8 year old with a 12 year old and a few 14 year olds all day (no cell phones). We would even go across the gondola. Care free as others had said was definitely the way it was.

I was there. Drove out with my grandparents and had a blast. Took the tram(or whatever you call it) high across the river.

Wood grain station wagons like this one featured in Ferris or...
The family roadster featured in National Lampoon's Vacation. How many of you knew someone who had one of these?

It was a hoss. Lasted 14 years and was still in fine working condition when I gave it away when I moved.

"People in the 70s lived like the world would end soon."
They talked about this during a really good documentary that came out recently called the "80s: the decade that made us". During one segment they talked about how close we came to World War III multiple times the last few months of 1983. Ironically, that was the same year that the movie War Games and the made for TV movie "The Day After" came out. The latter movie was about life in Lawrence, Kansas during a real life nuclear war and it freaked the heck out of people. Even crazier to think that the U.S. military was playing out a covert training scenario nuclear war exercise called "Able Archer" during this time and it was later revealed that the Soviets feared that we were using the exercise as a cover for a real life first strike. Looking back after the fact it was frightening to think how close we came to a nuclear war with the Soviets in the 3 month period following the Soviet shoot down of the Korean Airlines flight in early September 1983.
P.S. If you get the chance, TiVo the documentary called "80s: The Decade That Made Us". It's a 6 part, 6 hour documentary covering the entire decade. Probably the best 80s documentary I've ever seen. Really well done.

Anyone else remember these? I always got the Spiderman one.
I can't tell you how many cans of these things I ate while watching cartoons.
Some might not remember these but I really liked these. They were like spaghettios but in a chicken flavored sauce.
