A New Orleans Police Department officer's department-issued gun, along with other NOPD property, was stolen from her personal vehicle during a burglary Sunday afternoon in Metairie.
The JPSO said the officer's duty belt, which included her duty weapon, taser, extended baton, handcuffs, radio flashlight and two loaded magazines, was taken from the trunk of her vehicle. The burglar was able to get into the trunk after shattering the back driver's side glass.
The burglary happened around 2:25 p.m. in the 3900 block of North I-10 Service Road.
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the JPSO's Burglary Division at 504-364-5300.
Why the hell was her duty belt and gun, mags, etc. in her PERSONAL VEHICLE?

Probably because she doesn't have a take home unit

Does NOPD have encrypted comms?

When I checked a few weeks/months ago they were still available to listen to online.

How else does she get the duty belt between her home and the district station?

Regular district channels are not encrypted.

They should have some encrypted channels, but not all of them.

It takes them about five minutes to send a signal to the radio that turns it into a paperweight. This isn't the 1970's.
