With NOPD's budget/staffing issues and the almost certainty of some clown being elected the next mayor I feel like there's a tipping point coming soon in regards to officer attrition and morale.

God bless him.
For those that vilify policemen think about what you were doing last night when this happened. Some tucked in your bed safely asleep. Kids asleep and locked behind closed doors.
Meanwhile, this policeman's family was waiting for him to walk through the door after another shift. Instead they were awaken by a chaplain and his rank.
For those that bash police because some in uniform do wrong but yet in the same breathe idolize athletes, entertainers and other celebrities, as role models because of their righteous attitudes.
Don't forget what you were doing last night when this policeman lost his life.

What happened to the East? It used to be a Utopia in the 80s. It's a damn shame.

I've got many NOPD friends. That happened many years ago.

Serious question, will BLM celebrate this?

Demographic shift and white flight. What's the opposite of gentrification?
I used to love going to the Plaza Lake Forest mall to ice skate and play in one of their arcades.

The majority of BLM are kids and young adults who don't even fully realize what they are fighting for.
1) some are honestly trying to protest police brutality. Nonviolent.
2) some are just rebellious and don't respect authority anyway. Violent.
3) some are simply in it cause its the "cool thing" to hashtag and support if you are black.
Some violent. All ignorant.
The truth is that unless you form a cohesive body that can talk with government, you won't win.
And the bad publicity from violence and burning down areas won't garner sympathy that you need to foster public support.

Where's the outrage on the streets of NOLA? There won't be because it was a cop, even if he or she is African American.

As bad as the east is and that neighborhood where this occurred off Lake Forest.... the real war zone is over there in Pines Village between Dowman and I10.... holy shite not long ago I brought a coworker home at night and dropped him off two blocks across the steeet from Vison's in that neighborhood and I swear every little turn they had hood rats blocking the streets looking like they were waiting for me to stop to rob me. It's the most Wild West I think I've ever encountered in America.

Rest in peace, sir. Thank you for serving your community.
I'm sure BLM will be in an uproar that one of their own shot an outstanding black man protecting his community.
