My wife and I go to New Orleans for a long weekend every July but decided against it this year because of the statues coming down and the crime.
Thanks again, Mitch.
Same here. I used to ride in Endymion. By the time I pay dues, beads, airfare, and lodging, I was out around $7,000. This doesn't include food and drinks. I dropped my membership last year. I don't plan on bringing the family back to New Orleans any time soon. I rather spend the money on a trip somewhere else.

Gotta love NOLA apologists
NOLA Q1 murders up 70% = no difference

My family and I were supposed to go to NOLA to visit the wife's side of the family over July fourth weekend. We had the entire weekend planned out down to the minute and we're really looking forward to it. The night the Lee statue was removed my entire wife's extended family was murdered. We decided to visit Syria instead. I didn't want to give my hard earned money to that crime infested city.

Nagin was a moderate who endorsed Bobby Jindal and was probably a Republican before 2002. LaToya seems like a typical activist idiot.

Solid effort but you have to list how much money you arent bringing to NO.

My aunt owns a boutique hotel in the FQ. She was talking with the company that manages the property (and a number of larger hotels in the city) and they were saying how many people and conferences have started to cancel on them. Thanks Mitch.
Proud to be a fricking Landrieu.

I would have spent at least 75k that weekend. I was also scouting out convention sites for Apple and it's safe to say, we are picking Flint, Michigan after hearing the news down south

Mitch launched every little thing that happens here onto the national media with his little statue escapade.
It's fricking the city over. And he's continuing his pandering media tour.
That's the biggest problem. Mitch changed the national perception of the city.
It doesn't matter about statistics and reality and 90s crime.
People just keep seeing blurbs about new Orleans now and the only blurbs they see are crime and racial bullshite. And that is Mitch's fault and contribution to the detriment of the city.

We typically spend about 4-5 weekends per year in Nola but haven't been yet this year.
Same for my wife and I.
Recently, she and her two sisters went to a play down there (1pm on Saturday). A few years ago, they would has gone down Friday afternoon, spent Friday and Saturday night, and back home Sunday afternoon. 2 nights in hotels, 2 dinners, 2 breakfasts, 3 lunches, some shopping, etc.
Instead, they went straight to the play, left afterwards and headed to Florida for a couple of days.
I can't imagine the business owners in the Quarter are not seeing a decline but guess not. Maybe when it starts affecting the bank accounts of business owners then someone will attempt to get it under control.

Get their numbers so Lakeboy can call them and tell them they're ignorant and weren't going to spend money anyway. He seems to be the expert here.
