The city is exactly the same as it has always been, the only thing that has changed is your perception.

This is getting ridiculous. Used to be three rules.

1. Don't pee on the street.

2. Don't fight.

3. No stealing from the tourists. (Pick pockets).

Since criminal are now robbing tourists by fighting(assaulting them) does this mean I can finally piss on the street?

In addition, can I drop my pants and wiggle my dong around to get beads?

No. It's not. Mitch has changed that. He's laying fuses and gasoline.

And LaToya is running on the platform of "I have a match".

The city was better pre Katrina and post Katrina up until 2011 or so. Last 6 years have been abysmal.

New Orleans is a shithole. It's like Slidell South.

You give him way to much credit.

Oh and the bone in filet at La Boca last night tasted just like it always does.

Shouldn't have told his bodyguard he wasn't needed for the night.

Ive been three times. Wife and I were going to go there for our next anniversary. Already got the kid arranged to stay with grandparents. But decided on Destin instead. NO is just too dangerous for tourists, for me anyway. Maybe others still want to go there and that's fine. I' m taking my $4k to Florida.

dont know about all that. I would bet ol dude was a homosexual considering it happened in the fruit loop

And Paul Allen, to say that Nola has been in a steady decline since 2011 isn't just falafel. They have had so much growth and gentrification and big events and restaurants opened since then with not all that big increase in crime. This trend we are seeing now honestly seems to have started at the beginning of 2015 honestly

My wife and I go to New Orleans for a long weekend every July but decided against it this year because of the statues coming down and the crime.

We typically spend about 4-5 weekends per year in Nola but haven't been yet this year. I used to live uptown in the 90s. Just seems like it's on a bad trajectory. I hate it because Nola should be one of the best cities in the country.

Looks bad on paper but there are positives to having a black mayor, number 1 being skulls can be cracked in a manner that would look bad for a white mayor. Nagin knew how to handle it.

I don't know about that, it's not like there is some spike in heroin over the last 18 months or so. It's been around for a while. About 5-10 years ago you started seeing a HUGE increase in the white boys from the northshore and bayou country coming to the city daily to get their fix when they were once just pull heads. But that's not something new to the last 18 months with the rise in crime.
