The tents is more of what I was referring to, and they got way way way out of hand last year along St Charles. It was ridiculous.

Your poor planning is not my concern. What is the difference in a tent and a bunch of chairs?

This is all driven by whiny bitches that are upset they can't show up right a 6pm and get a front row spot for a parade. Governing to the lowest common denominator.

One would assume.

The law could easily say canopy. It says tent. I've spent 40 years watching parades on St Charles and Napoleon. I've seen maybe 2 tents in that whole time and 10k canopies.

If the law doesn't specify canopy, it's just political theater and next year will look the same as every other year minus tarps but more canopies.

I'm not planning anything. I show up to a parade and have friends and family with houses on most routes, and had one myself until a few years back.

The tents have gotten completely insane, they covered almost every inch of the NG last year and make it extremely difficult to cross or gather anywhere.

How do you think the NOPD is going to interpret the Tent/Canopy argument around say, the Columns?

This is bullshite dude. I had no problems going back and forth all week across multiple spots of the neutral ground. Yes there are a bunch, but so fricking what? Walking through people packed shoulder to shoulder isn't much different.

Banning tents and grills is just an all time bonehead move. I'm not shocked that dorks like you defend it, but it is disappointing,

It was packed, but tents weren't the issue at the corner of Napoleon and St. Charles, IMO

A tent has walls. A canopy does not. A canopy is not an enclosure. They could have easily said canopy. They also didn't ban tables.

Next year will look the same as every other year.

Your personal experience is just that, yours. There was a ton of stories last year on how out of hand the situation got on NGs and I experienced it personally. Last year was the worst it had ever been. It was completely out of control and it wasn’t the chads doing it.

This is a vast over correction and a bit ridiculous after reading the article but I do understand the sentiment.

I just want to get rid of folding chairs. I don’t care about the rest that much.

You're a fricking dweeb. If you couldn't walk around, that's on you.

No, its being driven by whiny bitches who go put out tents, ladders, tarps, and chairs hours ahead of time or rope an area off, then leave it all unattended, only to show back up to their "reserved" spot 15 minutes before the parade rolls.

As someone who actually sets spots up every year, what you claim is a fricking myth.

Did they ban chairs? I didn't see that listed.

Think about who lines the route blocking every exit point with their chairs and there is your answer
