When I was in highschool many years ago, someone broke in my car and stole my radio. I was on the football team and we had to leave our car at the school when we traveled. My brother at the time installed stereos, and always had them laying around. So he put another in along with razor blades under the dash. The following week they tried again, but it didn't turn out so well for them that time. Can't stand a theif.

A long time ago, there was a whole market for these things called car alarms. And there was even a popular steering wheel lock called the club. Used to have tv commercials and everything. Our parents used to tell us not to leave anything valuable in the car.
It’s shocking that people are still breaking into cars. So shocking that we should act like it’s never been an issue and that society has changed.

My neighbor in NOLA still uses a club.
No one has ever touched anything on our street though. I think the family that lives here has some sort of respect or something. It is odd.

When enough people stop leaving valuables in their cars, the thugs will benefit nothing from breaking in.
And guess what…they go to the next money making crime.
It’s how crime works. There’s always going to be the bottom of the bucket committing the easiest crimes that benefit them.

In my mind that is why carjackings became popluar. People only have valuables in their cars when they are in them. So break in when the owners are in them. Residents really have seemed to listen about leaving valuables in their cars. Sure, still happens, but most seem to have the message.
The reports of carjackings does seem to have diminished some since before Mardi Gras. Hopefully it is a real metric change and not just a temporary thing.

If I heard about a woman who had been raped by the same people in the same place 9 times in 6 months, and twice in 2 days, I’d first think how awful that is and wonder why the offenders weren’t imprisoned, and shortly after I’d wonder why she kept going back.

Or why the 9th time finally crossed the line to be reported.

You’re trying to equate a car break in to rape. Come on, bro.

There is hope for my 1994 Yugo with a stick shift.
Luckily I got an am/fm cassette tape radio that you can pull out to take with you.

Not “a” car break in. Nine car break ins. When the situation is absurd, why not draw absurd analogies?

And allegedly twice in 24 hours

First step is recalling the DA and the mayor. Second step is setting up hard consequences for crime and putting people behind bars

Just rig it with a few sticks of dynamite. Problem will eventually fix itself.
