Consider the optics of having monuments to the president and two generals of the CSA in a majority Black city.

Too long. A disaster unrelated to the previous issue.

Go figure. Those statues that were taken down were affiliated with your Democratic party. Gee I'm shocked. Another example as to why your crappy city will never ever recover. More concerned about slaves from 200 years ago than the real issues.

Walkable city
I can walk to my grocery store
I can walk to my pharmacy
I can walk to a restaurant
A friend wants to grab a beer? I can walk over there
We can walk to a restaurant, go get drinks, and then walk to a friends house and hang out for a bit and then walk to a bar and stay out until 4am dancing listening to music doing whatever we like
If you lived in Houston or Atlanta all of those activities would involve getting into a car and driving on the highway for several exits for each individual activity

at some point BR NO need to be considered one MSA
With EBR being the largest parish by population, I guess it’d be called the Baton Rouge-New Orleans MSA.

coming down esplanade and seeing that ptb statue with the museum in the background was one of the prettiest most european spots in the city, now it is an empty pillar with some flowers,

k. I’ll be three miles to the east. Where I’ve always been.
I’m not going to dog out Gen PGT because I think if anyone had a case to stay, it was him. But somehow those busloads of tourists still come down Esplanade to see the cemetaries and eat at CDM in the park whether he’s there or not…

If you grew up here, it’s as much a club as a city. You know someone everywhere you go. And if you don’t see them? They see you. The anonymity and transient nature of so many cities simply doesn’t exist here. At least not for natives. The middle and professional classes are small and that 6 degrees of separation is about 2 here. And geographically? You can park in front of your house in a very nice neighborhood and be in your office downtown 20 minutes later. Try that in Houston.
No where else like it.

Yeah, but your voting base in NOLA have been F'ing up a wet dream for many years. Seems to me corruption is the norm. From Dutch and his crooked crap (dropped dead while getting a BJ at the Lakefront),to his piss ant son, that set murder records while in office, and Mitch with his nonsense. The Landreu family is a load that should be flushed in the toilet. Tell me what has Latoya done in 2 terms? She's a POS knuckle dragging thug. I'll hang up and listen

This is the kindest Ive seen this board be to this city in many years.
Things must be looking up for Nola.
It seems to me to be finding its stride as a gritty, but hip and colorful, city.
It still has significant problems, but people are moving there in greater numbers than it appears they are leaving.

quote:writing a property tax check to Teedy would hurt. I don't even buy gas or groceries in Orleans if I can help it (when's the Elmwood Costco being built???). Starve that bitch of any tax revenues I can.
Which is why you live in Metairie, St Charles, St Tammany, etc and be close enough to enjoy these things without putting up with the issues.
