Honestly whether the statue is up or not doesn't offend me either way. It is, however, quite easy to see that this is a figure that represented what the Confederates were, not what they became after slavery was abolished.

I could very easily say the same of you. People here keep throwing out the tired argument that the war wasn't about slavery. Sure it was. "Your" narrative tells you to use revisionist history to brainwash yourself into believing that the civil war was about confederates who simply fought for the rights of their states against the oppressive U.S. government. It couldn't be further from reality.
