So the Uber drivers will be non-local?

Your position on the matter is like that of people that wanted to protect the horse and carriage industry when automobiles were first on the market. Local people will be paid money for the driving and locals would have more money to spend with the savings on rides. I can personally say that I don't go downtown nearly as often as I'd like because it costs me $70 to get to and from NOLA from Metairie. Cut it down to $40 total and I'd go out twice as much.
