You're not kidding. Halfway through it now. Didn't start reading until today.

It is so true.

So, why didn't you just buy them on Amazon? Very simple solution to this "problem".

I try to buy local if the prices are competitive. I also realize that value doesn't always mean cheaper. That said, the local guy has to at least get close.

Ha! First time online in a while? I'm getting an Amazon prime shipment tomorrow (Sunday) from the US Postal Service that I ordered yesterday. It's diapers and fishing shirts - only the critical needs.

Yep. I'm getting my Samsung DA29-00020B Comparable Refrigerator Water Filter Replacement tomorrow too.

I've never waited more than two days for anything on Amazon. Prime is well worth it.

I try hard to buy local and don't really like shopping online but books are one area where I can't justify it. It's so much cheaper online.

Exactly, nothing wrong with prime...but you still will have to wait even if a short time. Prime also...isnt free so you are still paying a premium for getting your item faster.

Just looked on iBooks and it is 11.99 for Dispatches from Pluto. Why not just download then you save a ton and you don't have to wait for it to be delivered??

It was $16 at bookstore. I was picking up my order and they had a stack of them at the register. Impulse buy. Not griping about that one.

I was surprised they got my order in so quick. Maybe one day later than Amazon would have. Look, sometimes I prefer books because I like to highlight and make notes. So my kindle app has quite a bit of fiction but not nonfiction. The Poilu book is one I will be getting out the yellow marker for quite a bit.

Nah, the point is that when you buy locally you're supporting the local economy/local jobs.

Buying local is almost always more expensive, that's why people have to be reminded to buy local. OP may not have enough disposable income to buy local.
