Be honest, the only reason you posted this was to receive a bunch of virtual pat-on-the-backs by random internet strangers.

That post you replied to quoted a study finding that wearing a cloth mask increases chances of infection for the wearer. Increases.

In healthcare settings. It is saying healthcare workers shouldn’t wear cloth masks in healthcare settings for protection. Where they are providing prolonged up close care to sick patients.

look, I hate masks as much as the next person, but I for one appreciate when people wear theirs in public. I have stated before, but i will again - my wife has a compromised immune system due to have had Celiac Disease untreated for 20+ years (misdiagnosed for that time by doctors) and some lung and breathing issue - not Asthma, but close. she also works for a grocery store, and despite having a compromised immune system, she has gone to work every shift to ensure that she could be there to help others get the food and so on needed to go on with daily life.

because of her health concerns, she could have easily just stopped going to work and taken leave of absence (it was offered to employees) but she didn't.

i guess the point I'm trying to make is - wearing the mask isn't just about you or your desire to not wear one - it is about everyone else who is susceptible to contracting the virus being helped to not get it, because at the end of the day - losing only those who have pre-existing conditions is a really shitty way of looking at it. some of those with pre-existing conditions have those conditions through no fault of their own, and do not deserve to play Russian roulettes with their lives.

A condom doesn’t protect you from STDs 100%

So by your logic why bother wearing one at all?

The point of this thread was OP bragging about laughing at / making fun of an employee asking her to put a mask on as she entered a store

It doesn’t matter at this point if masks do or do not work
Taking a stand at a store, especially mom & Pop, isn’t the way to do it
Take a stand by signing the recall & voting out everyone that let this shite show go on

So you think 0% to 99% are all the same and only 100% is different.

That’s my logic, but now I’m having a coronavirus baby while in my commercial construction industry here in Orlando which is shaky at best.

I’m just saying....there isn’t a perfect solution to all of this. And unless you never leave the house and never have contact with another person....there is not 100% protection that you won’t get sick. Nothing is fully guaranteed. I can’t guarantee that I won’t get hit by a car crossing the street of get in a wreck while driving but I can take measures to help prevent that.

Have both political parties taken this whole thing and used it for their gain at times? Yes

Is some of the general public idiots and don’t properly wear a mask in public? Yes

But....this virus, while not at lethal to many, is still here. It still kills people (and leaves long term effects in many others....and we still don’t know all there is to know about what this virus can do to a person long term) and spread could be lessened with some basic measures. We still have a global pandemic going on. That isn’t gonna disappear Nov 4 like many on here seem to think.

I don’t want things still shut down completely btw. I absolutely think things could open up more if some measures were taken.

The reaction to the virus has destroyed way more lives than the virus itself. I don't see how that's debatable, yet it continues.

I did not say that

Point is I’m wearing a mask because I don’t want to be the reason they get a violation, especially a local small business that it already hurting
If I walk in & employees aren’t wearing a mask I take mine off
I have also forgotten mine & had no one say anything

If you want the masks to go away sign the recall & vote against anyone running for re-election that didn’t do anything about the measures

The reasons provided for cloth masks being bad are not exclusive to healthcare settings. Moisture retention, poor filtration, and especially mask reuse happen outside of hospitals. You can also add in improper handling and use by wearers not trained in proper PPE methods.

There is literally no reason to think the reasons for cloth masks leading to higher infection rates for the wearer in hospitals would not also apply to the real world. If you were actually concerned with being an objective medical professional instead of fear mongering you would have stated that.

Instead, you lead off trying to discredit the study because it’s 6 years old. What, specifically, has changed in the manufacturing of cloth masks or the knowledge of disease spread in the last 6 years that would invalidate the findings from this study?

Also, it’s beyond hilarious to see you jump into this thread and hurl personal BS at the OP, and the cry and whine about her getting personal when she returns the favor.
