I think it's ridiculous the differing laws we have regarding different animals.
I can raise a pig, kill it and eat it. Dog, not so much. (not that I would want to, but it's the principle)

I'm reminded of the dude, I think it was in Lafayette, that was answering classifieds for free kittens and puppies and was feeding them to his python.
He was arrested for cruelty to animals. Had he been feeding his snake rats, rabbits, hamsters, etc., it would have been ok.

considering 100 years ago tens of thousands of whales were hunted and now we're down to a single boat going out once a year I don't think the whales are going to become extinct anytime soon.

Not sure why this is funny to you? It's bullshite that the world allows Japan to get away with this shite every year. They needed to kill 333 whales for "scientific research"? The only research being done is testing different ways to cook whale.
I'm fine with hunting, I do it myself, but animals that are in threat of disappearing need to be protected. The rest of the world decided it was bad to hunt whales but they just look the other way while Japan does it.
