We cannot afford to continue funding all of these universities. The max public universities we should have in this state is 4. Period.

I agree with you we can't afford the amount of public universities that we have right now. Where did you get the number four from, and why if Nicholls is not in financial trouble is it the one on the chopping block. There is apparently a need for this institution as it serves five different parishes in the state.

I don't think they are in financial turmoil like LSU...

All public colleges and universities have been in a state of financial turmoil for years. It sometimes seems like LSU is the only one with problems but that's just because LSU gets all the attention from the statewide media.

I actually remember ULL fans talking shite during the super regional about how S&P downgraded LSU's credit outlook from positive to stable and about LSU going "bankrupt" and all that. They didn't even realize that ULL's credit rating had been downgraded from stable to negative. Nichols was as well. Comparatively speaking, LSU's financial situation is the best of all universities in the state.

Consolidate tech, ulm, and nsu into one.

Nichols, ull, and mcneese into one.

And sela and uno into one.

While lsu stays.

Grambling and southern should just operate as a private hbcu.

Should there be an lsuhsc in Baton Rouge?

The thing is, they are all in financial turmoil.

We have one of the smaller populations in the country, yet we have the largest number of public colleges per capita. This is just plain stupid. We need to consolidate them or close them.

The problem is, those of you who went to these colleges are unable to take off your alma mater glasses and accept the fact that they are largely a waste.
