1066 was a bad year
Not for the Normans, though.
1066. The Battle of Hastings. William the Bastard.

No one ever remembers Harald Hardrada and the almost Danish/Norwegian subjugation of the isle.

Sad that one of the world's great empires has come to this point.

That puts my minted in New Orleans, 1846 Seated Liberty silver dollar to shame.

There’s a whole essence of Norse in the English Language. It’s fascinating their contributions

Don't forget the sunken treasure from the Atocha and from the US Central America. They also put your coin to shame.

There are laws regarding that kind of stuff everywhere.

Harold and his army won a hard-fought victory against the Norsemen at Stamford Bridge in East Yorkshire, then immediately had to force-march to the south coast of England to meet William's Normans on the battlefield of Hastings.
William defeated a rather tired Anglo-Saxon army at Hastings.
How sad that we lost the chance to have the Anglo-Saxon english language as our native tongue. Imagine Rap and Hip-Hop music sung in Old English.

A lot of states have rules regarding finding treasure and legal requirements on turning it in
