I can't wait for Jefferson parish to get a new sheriff. Back in high school my buddy got busted by borders with a few loratabs. They put him into that mobile command center underneath the causeway. Newell cursed him out for a half hour.

Eta: thinking about it now. No wonder this guy became a cop. With a name like Newell he probably got made fun of everyday

Shouldn't the state police be handling that sort of investigation?

More details fromt the Advocate

quote:

“I just don’t know why the sheriff’s after me. For what reason I don’t know. I never did the man nothing. Always supported him,” DuBois said. “We’re all sick about it, the way Jefferson Parish treated us yesterday.”

quote:

Deputies found an evidence bag missing 87 grams of marijuana, a department cash box missing $4,000 and a gun in DuBois’ desk, according to Normand.

quote:

He said he found the handgun in the department’s offices when he was elected 12 years ago and had simply been keeping it in storage until whoever owned the weapon came back to retrieve it.

quote:

As for the missing marijuana, DuBois said he did not see why an officer would bother to steal “about three joints”

I think everyone knows how crooked GIPD is but do we really think JPSO is going to swoop in and save the day?

Pot meet kettle.

I wonder if I will ever get the handgun back that JPSO stole from me during a traffic stop?

Well it is part of JP, so I would hope Newell knows his jurisdiction limits.
