I blame tigerdroppings for my stupidity. I should of read books on Mozart, quantum physics, and world history; instead , I read posts from oweo, rebeloke, and golden nugget...

"Smart" phones and the Internet.
No need to learn anything when everything is a click away.

I was gonna say
But I see the internet as the biggest culprit here. It’s the biggest double edged sword mankind has forged.
The internet has brought us so many technological advances. And brought unlimited information damn near the world over. It’s connected places never before connected.
But. It’s also our biggest downfall. It’s made us lazy. It’s destroyed our cognitive functions and ability to think and come to our own conclusions.
We want our answer and we want it NOW. We don’t want to read a book. We don’t want to study. We want to ask google, then fill in the blank and get on with our day.
It’s completely destroyed our ability to think critically and dissect information on our own. We need to be spoon fed our information. We need to be told what the answers are instead of figuring it out ourselves.
Instead of figuring out how to take something apart on our own, we watch a YouTube video and the information is gone the second we fix our problem. If it breaks again, boom back to google

So lazy to just blame phones and shite. That phone has access to more avenues of learning than anything we’ve ever had before.
You can also look at tits and fire memes.
Ultimately the blame rests on the person for how they choose to use this power.

except plenty of other countries are still seeing a rise in IQ, like the US

So, we’re talking about the Nation of Norway...who’s population is less than that of the city of Houston...and saying that shows that we’re all getting dumber?

so maybe that should change..Maybe its that kids aren't learning the same things they needed to know 100 years ago

Well we know you're getting dumber for sure.

Didn’t say it was a bad thing. Too early to tell. It’s a gift and a curse. Unlimited knowledge at your fingertips. But when you have unlimited knowledge at your fingertips, what’s the point in wasting time learning why x=1 or why the earth is round?
It’s made us lazy.

or has it made us more efficient?

More efficient doesn’t mean they aren’t lazy and dumb.
I can answer any math problem you give me in under 2 minutes thanks to WolframAlpha. That’s a level of efficiency that was unheard of 50 years ago.
Just because it’s more effiencent doesn’t mean shite if I don’t understand what the frick is going on. I’m still a dumb lazy shite who doesn’t know how to do calculus.

I mean are you under the assumption that engineers today don’t have to learn calculus or can’t use WA or other tools?

Where tf did you get that assumption? Because no... that’s not what I assume... at all.... there will always be those who strive for knowledge and to be at the top of their field. They are the exception.
We’re talking about the average joe. Not a physicist who works for NASA lol
