Dtown and Pville have to appreciate that finger going up and grabbing Southwood Village to EA.

Muddy Creek have to send their kids through 2 districts to get to high school.

Pelican Pointe still doin work to keep their kids out the 'inner city'

It’s going to take a little studying to see all the gerrymandering. I’m pleased personally, and the lines seem mostly logical. I doubt you can do this sort of redistricting and not break some eggs unfortunately.

Now time to address the terrible logos

Looks like a lot of gerrymandering going on there.

Someone drop a pin for each school board member and it might become clearer.

There’s always going to be gerrymandering. Plan C seems to be the least gerry’d.

Good. The gerrymandering will continue until neighborhood character improves.

St Amant, has a huge land mass to cover.

You would think they would rework it where kids off Hwy 42 would go to a closer high school.

Looks like Dutchtown High is losing the most out of this, between the high schools. Kinda crazy to think about the new middle school zones. Just seems weird. I’m so accustomed to Galvez being that NE quadrant. From Little Prairie Rd, down 44 to 931/431, then down 42 and back to Little Prairie.

I passed what I can only imagine was EA High’s Senior Skip Day party on Boudreaux Rd yesterday en route to ProSource. shite was lit. That is a very different AP school zone than Dutchtown.

Ours aren’t changing in all plans, thankfully. I haven’t read beyond the maps yet.

Did they say if upperclassmen involved in sports will get a choice? It would suck if they didn’t have the opportunity to stay at Dutchtown to finish out since the new school can’t have varsity sports for 2 years.

Pretty sure if they have seniors the first year they can play varsity on Day 1

Got it. As usual, lots of people are apparently spreading misinformation in the “what’s happening in AP” Facebook group. They’re swearing up and down it’s some LHSAA rule.

They list this in the FAQs at the bottom

quote:

Plans are for Prairieville High School (PVHS) to open in 2024-25 as a member of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) and compete in regular-season play. The school's first step is to apply for LHSAA membership. When PVHS opens, it will be considered an unclassified member of the LHSAA and will be able to play but will not be able to participate in post season/playoff games. During year one, the PVHS principal and athletic director will work with the LHSAA to request opportunities for year two (2025-26); however, that cannot be determined until the high school opens.

Also, regarding staying at current school. From the FAQs

quote:

The Ascension Parish School Board has not yet made a decision regarding which high school students may possibly have a choice of staying at their existing school or attending the school they are zoned for in the new attendance zones. Once a decision has been made, that will be communicated. Please note: As with past redistricting for primary and middle schools, there are no plans to provide choice outside of the high school levels.

I’m still in St. Amant High’s district. Was hoping to stay there and all three options show me remaining. My kids would go to Lake now instead of Galvez Middle, which I love. I was never a fan of them going to Galvez Middle.

I’m staying in God’s Country!
