Pretty sure her husband is from LA originally but not from New Orleans. I'd guess the same for her based on her last name. It'd be tough to grow up in New Orleans and not be moderate politically if not conservative. That section of New Orleans used to be incredibly conservative but is trending liberal with the transplant influx.
