Why would a bus, with routes and scheduled (lol) time tables, be idling 80% of the time?

Urban bus routes have ridiculous excessive idle time. Sit back and think about how they work. Unlike others in this thread I actually look at data on this and not just muh feels.

I know you like electric but you know this isn't a good fit for NOLA. Well...except for the politician money grab part.

I don’t like electric. I don’t drive one. But because of me job I know quite a lot about them and research this, monitor several large fleets, etc. There are several use cases that they are incredibly good for, this being one. And there is a ton of shitty talking points about them, that come out in all the usual threads.

Didn’t y’all buy one piece of shite that keeps breaking. And haven’t ordered any others? While PC has been running their fleet from multiple vendors for years? Sounds like y’all are the outlier here.

But keep hating on them if you want. I don’t really GAF if people want to keep their city noisy and smelly. shite hole gonna shite hole.

Montreal had electric buses when I went last month.

Think it gets cold there.

Happens on most of the EVs here, not just buses. Lost performance in winter. Our climate is more brutal than Montreal or Park City.

Tesla and Nissan seem to be doing better of late.

Incorrect. EVs lose up to almost 40% of performance everywhere when the temp falls below 0c. Hydrogen Fuel Cells perform better in cold.

the switch to cold temperatures (between -5 and 0° C) affects the range of up to 38 per cent decrease in case of battery-electric buses

Its just worse here.

It doesn’t get cold enough in New Orleans to even have Park City or buttfrick Alaska in the conversation. What we need to know is how well they do in floodwaters up to the axles.

That's only like $3.5M per bus... so cheap!

The Nola edition needs pontoons, a PTO propeller and a tail gunner.

It's like chaining a baby elephant and wondering why it never breaks that chain once grown. These guys are so used to having yuck and being yuck that they don't think they deserve better.
