Saw a house come on the market in Lakeview that looked really nice. $260/sqft. I hope it doesn't, because I have a lot of friends and family there, but it seems awfully bubblicious in that area.

We'll find out over the next few years if they have the jobs to support the rising real estate prices.

Bubble for sure. Considering about 85% of the new construction homes there are built like utter garbage I don't see the $200+/ft lasting forever

I don't see how it can either. Price has escalated 10% in the last 6 months for some areas. Houses are selling just as quick too.

You see the negative Louisiana attitude on this thread. Sure, we have lots of problems, nobody's denying that. But we're unwilling to even acknowledge when good things are happening.

This isn't a negative "Louisiana" attitude. It's a negative NOLA attitude. Once you have politicians that aren't padding their own pockets at the expense of infrastructure and bettering their own city I'll start to give credit where credit is due.

That being said, Nola is growing, I agree with that, but it is still somewhere I wouldnt want to live for ATLEAST the next 4-7 years. I'm sure I'll catch flames from all the home-grown Nola boys on here who went to college for four years and couldn't wait to get back to "the best city in the world", but face it, that's ethnocentrism at its' finest.

The culture in Nola is absolutely awesome, but the culcha isn't. Nola is kinda like Texas, barring the hardcore locals, it would be a much better place.

Yeah, we said frick it and bought after guessing where we were on the curve. Luckily unless humanity decides to quit oil or quit being sick we will be fine.

I think we may eventually be upside down to our purchase price, but the other option was throwing away money on rent.

The bum problem is also still pretty bad. On par with other major cities.

With the way people from Houston talked, I thought their city was a crimeless utopia

The amount of bums, crime and car break ins is insane, even compared to be and Nola

Houston has multiple bums on every corner and gas station. Gotta love the tunnels

Is this a joke? $200/ft is NOTHING for a home in a metropolitan area (other than Detroit).

You say that, but a service industry worker can bring in six figures in this city.

The FQ is almost 500.00 a square foot and Uptown is getting close. People are buying million dollar properties Uptown and completely gutting them.

Ya, looks like another run is being made though.

I've always found it interesting how Jackson Avenue fell. There are some large homes that came into disrepair on that street. Glad to see a few have started being redone.

Locating two housing projects off the Avenue probably did not help.
