Wasn't Miami already under water at some point in time?

Top three threats to NOLA:

1)Hurricanes
2)Old River failure
3)Coastal Erosion

Crime, the slow bleeding of major energy jobs to Texas, a slow down in tourism, and poor infrastructure are all much bigger and more likely threats to New Orleans than any of those things.

Than coastal erosion? You're a fricking moron. Erosion is an existential threat to South Louisiana. It's happening on an undeniable daily basis. The land people used to live on less than a hundred years ago is now underwater. But 'a slow down in tourism' (when did that happen?) is a bigger deal.

Well I guess since tourism is doing great and the infrastructure is being rebuilt, I suppose the coastal erosion is higher on the priorities list

If you're in clinical denial that the climate is getting warmer and sea levels are rising, then you have to fool yourself into believing things that aren't true so that the artifice you have created to protect your ego remains intact.

They forgot to factor in the levees. You know, those walls that keep the water out. New Orleans is already mostly below sea level. This is nothing new.

There is a plan to combat this scenario. Build the river to end at English turn and abandon Plaqumines and St. Bernard parishes.

Seriously.

In the early 90s these same idiots said NY city would be under water by 2010. Just liberal crap.

More energy jobs were lost in Katrina in the Nola area than will ever leave due to crime

You can't be serious with that statement

And coastal erosion is a 100% likely threat to new Orleans. It isn't the boogie man. It is visible. That doesn't mean there aren't solutions, but plunging your head that far up your arse won't make it go away.

So another Obama lie? He said he'd lower my insurance along with the sea level. What a POS!

Economically or physically?

Physically sure. It's still there.

Economically? No potable water, no deep water port, and the entire petrochemical corridor from Plaquemines to North of BR would start sucking in salt water. How many refineries rely on river traffic and fresh water to operate?

The whole country would be fricked. All the infrastructure along the river wasn't built over night. Largest port in the world brought to a halt..scary thought

12,000 years ago Florida nearly touched Mexico. Global warming changed the map to how we know it. The levels are rising again because it's getting warmer. Forget WHY/HOW it's getting warmer for a minute... if you want to deny that it is getting warmer and this is not a threat to future generations, then you've been brainwashed.
