All in all my experience a B+. A little early to take advantage of everything dining but there appear to be plenty of options. Terminal B is very nice. I can see seating becoming an issue during peak times as it feels tight.

Negatives: precheck area is TINY. It was already backed up outside the ropes this morning and it was not busy. This will be an issue during peak times.

Signage was so/so. I got where I was going via short term parking but I can see some getting confused.

Upon exiting the interstate I had to stop at both red lights. This will be a complete cf and I foresee I-10 getting very congested westbound.

Overall much better than I expected.

it was backed up from the exit onto the travel lanes on I10 in both directions yesterday at 1ish.

I’m definitely going to stick to early AM flights out. This morning was a breeze getting in. I have however been sitting on this plane for 20 minutes now as they are “waiting on the bags”

That is not just an MSY thing and I don't see why airports do not do like Walmart does parking lots with seating.

They have plans to move over like 6 more TSA line from the old terminal. They only have 12 installed right now, so hopefully they can expand this.

Update from the ramp:
there is a “meltdown” in the baggage delivery system per the capt and there is no word on when/if they’ll make it to the plane. I’ve got a connection in ORD now in jeopardy

Boarding agents speaker didn’t work.

At the time of boarding they realized our plane was a gate over bc the the plane at original gate parked at the wrong gate last night.

Belt in the main baggage center broke per pilot and now all bags will be delivered manually.

beautiful place. I can see seating being an issue during high traffic times. Precheck lines a little long at 445 but I did see where they are adding more scanning equipment. Overall not bad at all. Not sure I would take a midday or afternoon flight right now.

ETA. Delayed waiting on baggage to be loaded.

45 minute delay here due to baggage loading issues. TSA Pre line was ridiculous.

You can have a great facility but the same ole shitty employees are still there.

Also, MSY is not a hub with very few connections. I think the place is overkill and there’s no way all of those restaurants will stay open in there.

Yeah it looks to have more restaurants per gate than even big connecting airports. It’s hard to see how that’s all sustainable long term.

That is a potential hazard if they inconvenience enough uber/lyft drivers.

If they start avoiding the airport it could create some long waits. And if folks just off a flight ready to get their trip onward have to wait an hour for a ride then all of the nice new things in the terminal will be quickly forgotten.

So it looks the issues are as follows:

1) Our local citizens are rude and don't know how to use an interstate exit, resulting in crashes.

2) A pickup code first in / first out uber/lyft system, which is extremely simple and works perfectly all across the country, is too hard for our local uber/lyft drivers to figure out.

3) TSA apparently didn't actually set up all the lines before they opened, instead being cheap and bringing over old equipment now, which I'm guessing will take a few days.

4) Faulty materials / training on the baggage system causing it to break a belt (this is one of those WTF moments, kinda like how the Disney gondola broke a few days after it started operation)

5) DOTD, I'm guessing under orders from a governor that is in a tight re-election campaign, is Johnny on the Spot and making real-time adjustments to light signals and lane striping.

I didn’t see anyone complaining

It’s a beautiful masterpiece. Exceeded all my expectations. I was speechless. Well done
