Does soapstone come in colors other than gray?

it comes in shades of grey, and with veins that run from white to greenish

honestly it all tends to darken over time toward a charcoal black, then the veining stands out even more

what happens if you're cutting up a raw chicken on the wood? i just can't imagine constantly worrying the countertops are coated with salmonella.

Heed this warning: do not, under any circumstances, put marble in your kitchen. Easily the worst decision we made in our house.

I enjoy the combo of Soapstone or concrete and copper

Copper for accents like bar top and sink

soapstone for the large counterspaces

And pinewood backplash??

Then cut your chicken on a cutting board like you do now if you don't trust whatever cleaner you use to wipe down the counter tops?

i have formica now and they're white and when i 409 them they look clean.

wood seems more porous to me and i worry if there are small nicks & cuts in the wood that bacteria will get in there and breed.

i konw nothing about wood countertops...

Silestone

Built our house in '05 and put this in for kitchen countertops and bar. Almost ten years later and it's still absolutely perfect. A bit expensive, but well worth it. NO maintenance.
