Wife and I live in Midtown. Love it; great area near lots of stuff. Plenty of families around but some houses can be fixer uppers. However, lots of people are now renovating houses in the area which should give you some options if you're not wanting to do tons of work. However, the houses are older. I love it's proximity to everything; we enjoy restaurants and good concerts, which Mobile surprisingly gets plenty of. I'm 45 mins to Dauphin Island and about 1 HR 20 min to Orange Beach/Gulf Shores. Midtown will have some awesome streets and areas and not far off have a sketchy area nearby. Such is life.
Oakleigh is gorgeous, similar to midtown but a touch older and a touch cooler architecture; in my opinion. Right next to midtown, so similar pros and cons.
Eastern Shore is very nice but if you're working in Mobile or surrounding area be prepared to deal with hellacious traffic daily. Otherwise it fits a lot of criteria, but I hate traffic with a passion.
Dog River area off DIP is badass if you want to live on water. Also similar great spots on Fowl River and Rabbit Creek. I love being around water and want to be at one of those one day.
West Mobile is too cookie cutter and suburban for me; that may however be your thing.
Saraland is also a nice growing alternative if you want a little more "country" feel. Available to get bigger land plots etc. They've also spun off their school district from Mobile County so it's actually legit public schools, which is a major plus for families.
Feel free to email me at crazylsufan25@gmail.com if you have any questions along the way.

Daphne teachers won't send their kids there. Move to Spanish Fort or Fairhope.

Live in Springhill. How old r our kids. Public schools are horrible in Mobile County, West Mobile included. How much do u want to spend on a house? What part of town is your job?
Unless you are going to put your kids in Private schools, Baldwin County is your best option.

If you're making big money and don't mind snooty peeps, Spring Hill is very nice. I lived there for a while.
Grew up in a neighborhood called Ridgefield off of Airport Blvd between Bit & Spur and Hillcrest which is also nice.
All older houses so you will need money for renovations.
