10 years ago yes. Bed in the box shite has hurt the industry a lot, sadly most of them are trash beds but they pay for "ratings' and morons actually believe they are comparable to great beds. Luckily it's not the career long term. Just need a few years of management in sales on the resume to move into a better role. I still make far a good amount, especially when you add in how little work I actually have to do for that pay check.

I have four competitors within a 2 mile range. But it's insanely high traffic and I can beat prices. Especially vs Macy's and Ashley's. They way over inflate.

The mark up on mattresses is probably comparable to the mark up on single bottles of water at gas stations from what I've heard

It is. A good mattress should last 15 years. So they only get one sale every 15 years per consumer. They need to have that mark up to stay open.
We get beds once a year at cost. My Tempurpedic cost me less than 800 bucks and my base cost me 223(adjustable). So I paid about 1/5th what someone else would pay. So yea..mark up is very high.
