We should beg the government to force smaller fuel tanks, too. That way we can make sure no one is going too far without stopping for a break. Also, there should be jammers in every car so people don't text and drive, ignition interlocks, and an armed agent to make sure you wear your seat belt.

I noticed almost all the people arguing against what I said about governors have resorted to sarcasm. Which proves to me they don’t have an argument and they know it.

It’s easier to be sarcastic and exaggerate my point than to say “The government should not impede my ‘right’ to do something that is already illegal”

Imagine how much gas they saved going that fast

Yeah, I don't really give a shite about this. You want a federal babysitter. That makes your opinion completely worthless to me.

90 mph is also already illegal, sport.

Then defend your position without sarcasm. Muh rights, which is the stance your taking is not a good argument seeing as you have no right to drive your car as fast as you want.

Exactly. It’s illegal everywhere. Yet people across the US still die nearly every day from people who hit triple digits on the interstate. Why even give someone the ability to do some that is universally illegal in the United States.

No. If you don't like the sarcasm, you're free to frick off.

I guess it's a good thing that isn't the point I made...

No shite.

It's illegal some places to go over 25 mph. Why should we let anyone go over 25? Why don't you care about those kids?

EVERYBODY wants some mercy if they are doing this, but wants them thrown under the jail bc they were going fast. People forget right quick if that shoe was on your feet. Yes it would seem like they would be alive but if cop took 30 more seconds they would not have been by that truck. Things just happen that you can't predict. Sad that they aren't here but it just happened that way. Some parents are in deep despair after getting that news. I truly feel for them.

If there's a follow up, it'll be something like how the parents are suing, because if the cop had done his job and maybe arrested them or impounded the car, they would still be alive.

It'll probably be framed like that.

Classic.

Next time, just start with this so we all know you're an idiot.

I've gone faster than 90, but 90 is the height of my comfort level. 100 feels risky over that and is almost scary.
I bumped a 135 governor before. I have a 155 governor on current car but I'll never touch that.
In Texas on SH130 they have a 90mph speed limit. It's crazy that doing 90 you still have to keep right because people are doing 120 on it.

80 is usually my max speed on open interstate. After that the gas mileage loss isn't worth the time gained. (Like to stay under 2k rpm)

I'm pretty sure it's still 85 mph. That's what it was last year.

One of the freeways near me has a 100 mph speed limit. You really don’t notice it that much when the roads are made for it.

That’s an odd argument. People kill other people with guns every day, yet we have the right/ability to obtain guns in the US. Am I to assume you want that taken away as well?

Because the only use for a gun is killing someone?

There are tons of legal activities you can do with a firearm. Not to mention it is a constitutionally protected right.

Of course not. But speeding doesn’t only kill people either.

You seem to want more government restriction and control. I don’t think that’s a good thing really. I guess that’s where we disagree.

My argument though is there is nowhere in the US that these excessive speeds are legal so it isn’t an apples to apples comparison. And that’s even a taking the constitutional aspect out of the argument.

I’m no fan of government. But in this sense I think the pros outweighs the cons.

My personal opinion on this has changed drastically since moving to Houston. There are a crazy amount of people who weave in and out of traffic at triple digits and the amount of close calls I’ve personally witnessed is astonishing. Almost of the close calls I’ve seen would have resulted in fatalities or serious injuries. I’m basically looking to regulate stupidity here because our narcissistic society grows more self centered by the day. People don’t weigh their own personal risk much less the risk to those around them all so they can get somewhere a couple minutes faster or experience the thrill of reckless driving.

You do understand that you can legally drive a car faster than 90 mph, don't you?

So what. You think we should only care about the government stomping on its people when the Constitution says they can't?

Please show me what PUBLIC road in the US has a speed limit over 90 mph

Based on your definition they are already doing that with speed limits

You can't set up a shooting range on public roads.

I can drive faster than the speed limit.
